That's right, folks. News broke earlier tonight that the biggest sequel that we didn't even realize we wanted is now in the works. "Twins", the 1988 comedy classic that brought Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito together as long lost twins, is now working towards putting a follow-up film together. The biggest change for this chapter? Looks like brother number three enters this mix this time around!
Check out who that brother is, and more details on the film's production after the break.
Earlier, The Hollywood Reporter cited that Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are now finalizing plans to get a sequel to the original film made. The big twist this time around though? Adding a third oddball brother to the scenario, which in this case will be Eddie Murphy. Understandably, the follow-up project will be titled 'Triplets'. And while the original director, Ivan Reitman, has stated that he will not direct this installment, he is producing and will helm the team responsible for finding their new man (or woman).
The good news is that all three stars are attached to act in the film, and writers are currently being commissioned to put together a script. The studios and actors want this to happen, so by all accounts, it will.
I loved "Twins", and can't wait to see Schwarzenegger and DeVito team-up for this comedy franchise one more time - even if it does mean bringing Eddie Murphy into the fold. And in all honesty, back when "A Thousand Words" was releasing, I stated that Murphy needed to stop with those same types of film and get back to the 80's-styles comedies that he excelled so well in originally. Will this be that film? Only time will tell, but it's a good start in my book!
What do you guys think? Excited to be getting a sequel to this film?
