“E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial” Gets First Blu-Ray Release

We don’t talk about DVD/Blu-Ray releases around here very often. But seeing as the film being mentioned here just showed up recently in The Slackers' Greatest Movies of All-Time list, and is one of the most beloved films of all time, I figured it was worth mentioning.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that Steven Spielberg’s classic film will be released in a digitally remastered 30th Anniversary edition Blu-Ray combo pack. It will be available for purchase in October.

See Universal’s full announcement and the Blu-Ray trailer after the break.

The highlight of all of this for me is that they will be releasing the original version of the film, and not following the George Lucas method of DVD releases. Not that there was any question about it, but this is just another example of how vastly superior Steven Spielberg is to his old pal.
