Variety has reported that “Haywire” star and mixed martial artist Gina Carano has become the first name attached to a planned female version of The Expendables. The film is being put together by Adi Shankar and his 1984 Private Defense Contractors studio.
No other names have been attached to star, and we have yet to learn anything about what the plot will entail, outside of the obvious, but we are expected to start hearing more names soon.
Shankar did have this to say about Carono’s involvement with the film:

"I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of 'The Expendables' without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba."Even though I didn't enjoy "Haywire" nearly as much as critics did, I still though Carano did a good job for her first film. Obviously her being in this film makes a ton of sense and it we all know the girl really can kick some serious ass.
